Christmas at Starship

Every Christmas the Starship staff decorate their wards to bring a little festive joy to patients and their families in hospital.

While it’s all warm fuzzies for the patients and families, the “Best Decorated” title is hotly contested amongst Starship staff. Last year Operating Theatres took out the title with their gingerbread themed decorations, so this year there are a few staff vying for the crown.

The theme this year is “Christmas carols” with the staff challenged to bring their favourite Christmas song to life.

Voting has now closed. The best dressed ward for 2023 is 27A & 27B Oncology and Haematology- Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer. Closely followed by NICU in second place and 26B Medical Specialties in third place. The sustainability award goes to 24B General Surgery – Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer. Thank you to all the Starship staff for decorating your wards/areas so creatively, the hospital looks truly magical! And thanks to everyone who voted this year, the competition was fierce!
