Section Leader, Paediatric Respiratory, Starship
We are looking for an experienced and proactive Clinical Physiologist to provide leadership within Respiratory and Sleep Physiology services. This is an excellent opportunity to work with NZ’s largest and highly specialised hospital based at Auckland City Hospital.
As a Section Leader, you will be responsible for the operational management of either the Respiratory or the Sleep branch of the Physiologist team, ensuring delivery of high quality and timely services in line with clinical expectations with an over-all emphasis on quality outcomes. You will also have the primary responsibility to perform the role of trainer, role model and a source of information for trainees within that part of the service and support the Charge Physiologist and Clinical Lab Manager in departmental strategic and business planning as required. This role will provide opportunities for improving management skills, teaching, process improvement, quality and test development.
As an ideal candidate, you will have the following skills and attributes:
At least 5 years’ clinical practising experience within a Sleep, Respiratory or Exercise physiology lab setting
Previous people management or leadership experience is essential with experience in performance management and development
Demonstrate advancing clinical skills and knowledge as necessary for a supervisory role during clinical procedures
Flexibility to suit the service demands with the ability to prioritise and deliver to deadlines
Experience in quality management system with working knowledge of computer based systems within the context of a health care setting will be highly desirable
It is essential to hold a valid registration with New Zealand Clinical Physiologists Registration Board and a current APC

The Starship Paediatric Respiratory services are part of Auckland DHB, based at the 230-bed Starship Children’s Hospital. We offer a range of services to our Respiratory and Sleep patients, including lung function testing in patients that have respiratory diseases (such as CF, bronchiectasis, asthma, Neuromuscular diseases etc.) and specialise in performing complex clinical procedures for various underlying conditions.
